I have just started a new 6 week challenge which is to be able to do the side splits in 6 weeks! I want to do this to increase my flexibility to keep myself limber as I get older and because I tend to hold stress in my legs. I searched for information on how to learn to do the splits and came across a great article. The author breaks the programme down week by week and explains the techniques required to overcome muscle tension. He also discusses how the mind plays an important part in visualising yourself doing the splits – this is an important step in breaking through the muscle resistance. The author claims that anyone is capable of doing the splits if they are healthy. That did intrigue me and I thought it would be a good challenge for a 40 year old! I am looking forward to this challenge and will provide weekly updates as I go.
